can't remember if that's a spot that is clearcoat or not (i'd prolly lay off the steel wool). if it is then i'd prolly try a test spot in that area with some wd40 and elbow grease. i had a bit of leakage a while back too but no problem in just cleaning it off. i do know i've got some scorching along the leftside cover next to the footpeg (boot mark) that won't come off but i'd rather keep the clearcoat for a while . good luck with that (you can always tell yourself that the bike's got character now ). ride safe! t..
